Zillow has been glitching the last few days. Here's what happened
Across the Twittersphere Tuesday morning, real estate agents and home sellers griped about the glitches they were experiencing on the Zillow home search website.
Glitching, in this case, means listings being completely deleted, the inability to login to profiles and images disappearing, to name a few.
According to Downdetector, an online outage map, Zillow experienced as many as 58 reports of an “outage” on Tuesday.
Team Leader at William Raveis Real Estate, Byron Lazine, said that although his business wasn’t impacted, his team noticed the glitches, and handled the administrative issues.
“Out of our 41 [active] listings we have, a handful of them were impacted, but just photos,” Lazine said.
Twitter user David Pinski mentioned Zillow Tuesday morning, asking to “please explain how my house for sale suddenly isn’t on the market (but only on Zillow) and old pictures that were taken down a week ago suddenly reappear. Nobody made any changes. MLS has the right status. You don’t.”
Although Zillow said the glitch lasted about 24 hours, some users were still experiencing troubles throughout the following day.
Another Twitter user noticed “your servers appear to be having significant problems syncing with the MLS. When will this issue be resolved?”
“For a short time yesterday [Monday], some users may have experienced issues when attempting to log on to our site. The issue has been resolved and everything should be back to normal,” Zillow Spokesperson Viet Shelton said in a statement. “We always strive to ensure our users have a good experience on Zillow and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Zillow Manager of Data Public Relations Matt Kreamer said the impact of the listings were unrelated and were still being worked on Tuesday afternoon.
“Zillow [was] experiencing an issue that is impacting the status of some listings on the site. We are working to resolve it as soon as possible. We always strive to ensure our site has the most accurate and updated home listing information and we apologize for the inconvenience,” Kreamer said.
In the meantime, Zillow asked those users to email listings to them instead and Zillow is able to post them.
At 5:17 pm CT Tuesday, Kreamer told HousingWire the listing glitch was fixed.
